Mother to a son on the autistic spectrum Guiliana has worked with therapies for almost all her adult life. She blended several different therapies in which she is trained, proven neurological and scientific research, instinct and years of experience into a very refined and specialised head massage when her son hit an extremely difficult time in his life.
Told by his teachers that he would ‘never achieve’ he has since graduated from Bath Spa university with a degree in Creative Writing and Publishing.
In this course she shares:
The Nervous System & The Three Brains - An introduction to the neuroscience behind the practices including how you can re-programme the brains in the head, heart and gut.
The Shoulders & Back - The most worked muscles of the body lie in the shoulders and massaging them or even simply placing your hands on them is incredibly grounding, safe and nurturing.
The Arms - Arms particularly hold onto emotion. The further down the arms you go, the older the emotion; wrists are survival and holding onto life. Massage here helps fill the body with oxytocin, endorphins and serotonin . In this way you gently open the heart to trying new things, to trust, to flowing in a less rigid way.
The Neck - The neck connects thought to feeling, mind to body, where we are inside our hearts to where we actually are. Working along the occipital ridge is also massively healing and grounding.
The Head - This section of the module demonstrates massage from a science based foundation, showing that massage is not a ‘treat’ or something fluffy and relegated to “wellbeing “. It will equip you with the scientific language and proven research to use with parents, the kids themselves, Sencos, teachers and heads
The Face - When you’re working on the face you’re actually working on the gut as all the beginnings of all the meridian points down to the gut are on the face. With a child who doesn’t like their back being touched this provides an alternative massage which is grounding, safe and nurturing.
